Project Details

As part of the First Taxing District Water Department Annual Capital Budget, the Department will be replacing the existing water mains on Fort Point Street, Charles Street, Platt Street, Pleasant Street, Reynolds Street, Moore Place and South Smith Street. Once all work is complete and the new water mains are in service, the existing water mains on these streets shall be abandoned.

Construction on South Smith Street will begin on or around February 10th, 2020. Throughout the construction process, the contractor will provide access to your business/home during the water main installation and will provide you with a 48-hour notice prior to any water main shut downs that will affect your water service.

Once the water main on South Smith Street is installed, from Platt Street to Fort Point Street, the contractor will move to Reynolds Street.  Please note that Reynolds Street will become a two-way roadway during the duration of the construction at that site. Please be advised that there will be No Parking on either side of the road on Reynolds Street.  Any parked vehicles that interfere with construction will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Don Ukers is the First Taxing District Water Department representative in the field during construction. Don can be reached at 203-505-9618 or by email at dukers@firstdistrictwater.org.

The Contractor, M. Rondano will work Monday through Friday, from 7:00AM to 4:00PM, weather permitting. The Contractor is required to maintain the traffic flow and will be providing either Norwalk Police Officers or traffic control personnel to assist vehicular and pedestrian traffic through the worksite.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this construction may cause and thank you for your patience and cooperation. If you have any questions or require additional information, do not hesitate to contact the First Taxing District Water Department Project Manager, Mike Elliott at 203-847-7387 ext. 7268.
